Background and aspirations for ASAHP

I have had the opportunity to serve within the School of Health Professions at UT Health San Antonio for over 10 years. Prior to my service with the School of Health Professions, I worked in a similar role with the School of Medicine for 7 years. I served on many student affairs committees within the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) and when I transitioned to the School of Health Professions, I looked for similar opportunities within ASAHP.

While exploring opportunities within ASAHP, I was honored to have been selected for the ASAHP Leadership Development Program. This program provided not only a great way to learn about educational offerings at other institutions but also allowed an opportunity to network with colleagues who continue to provide mentorship. The leadership development program is a great example of ASAHP’s continued assistance to their member institutions.

If selected to serve as a member of the nominations and election committee again, I hope to continue to gain a better understanding of ASAHP board service while also addressing the needs of member institutions. My experience with the AAMC has demonstrated what a large organization is able to do for their members. I believe ASAHP has the potential to be as strong an advocate for their institutions and it would be an honor to assist with this growth.
