Senate Committee Holds HEA Hearings

The U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions has held its third and fourth hearings on reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. Today's hearing focused on accountability and risk to the taxpayer while last Thursday's hearing focused on access and innovation. While the House Education and Workforce Committee approved their HEA reauthorization bill by a party line vote in December, the Senate aims to take a more bipartisan approach. Chairman Alexander hopes to have a Senate bill by early Spring.

Summaries of the hearings are available here and here.
