Can Nursing Remain A Source Of Upward Mobility?

A report from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce explores educational barriers to upward mobility that low-income nurses and those from racial and ethnic minority groups face. The report also explores the knowledge and competencies that nursing requires. A college education increasingly is the key to success in a nursing career, with 66% of registered nurses having a bachelor’s degree or higher today compared with 32% in 1980.
