THREEFOLD HEALTH CARE PRICE VARIATIONS

A new study released as a Web First by the journal Health Affairs examined variations in the prices for 242 common medical services in forty-one states and the District of Columbia, using a national multi-payer commercial claims database for the years 2012 and 2013. Sometimes, more than a threefold variation was found. Alaska had the highest average health care prices, followed by Wisconsin, North Dakota, New Hampshire, and Minnesota. Florida had the least expensive services.
