Background and aspirations for ASAHP

I write to apply for an open position on the Nominations Committee of The Association of Schools Advancing Health Positions (ASAHP). In my role as Associate Professor in the School of Nursing (SON) at the Institute of Health Professions (IHP), I have served in various committees, within the School and the IHP. One of those committees is the Nominating Committee of the School of Nursing. I have served as Chairperson for five years (2017-2022). Some of my outstanding achievements included the creation/selection of nominating slots and conducting elections for vacant faculty positions into respective committees in the SON. Additionally, I initiated the creation and solicitation of students to join Standing Committees in the SON. This was crucial for at least two important reasons; 1) to give students a voice & inclusiveness in what is happening within their school and 2) as part of SON governance, and our strategic evaluation plan. Thank you for your time and the opportunity to serve and I look forward to hearing from you.

ASAHP Activities

I have served in several committees, within the school including Nominating, Evaluations, Curriculum and Faculty development committees. At the IHP level, I am a member of the Faculty Senate and Appointment & Promotions Committees.

relevant experience

I have served in a leadership position for several years within the SON as Foci Coordinator and later as Semester Coordinator. In these roles, I oversaw a number of faculty duties (clinical instructors/reviewed course objectives) and the administration of courses at the beginning, during and end of each semester.
